Szymoszkowa Meadow has for years been a year-round recreation area, located in the western part of Poland’s winter capital, and is very easy to reach. It is only about 1.5 kilometers from Krupówki Street.
If you travel by car, at the Roman Dmowski roundabout head towards Kościelisko. You can leave your vehicle in the parking area and enjoy active recreation. Szymoszkowa Meadow can also be reached by minibus — simply take public transport from the Zakopane bus station heading towards Kościelisko and get off at the stop near the Kasprowy Hotel.
Szymoszkowa Meadow is mainly known for its ski lifts adapted to different skill levels. Beginners can use a small chairlift. The slope is gentle, with a height difference of only 60 meters over a length of 400 meters. The four-seater chairlift can transport up to 2,000 skiers per hour. Szymoszkowa Meadow for children offers something special — Kids Park Szymoszkowa! Located next to the lower station, it is dedicated to the youngest skiing and snowboarding beginners. A conveyor belt helps children learn basic skills under the supervision of professional instructors. As a true ski resort, Szymoszkowa also offers a complete infrastructure including a ski school, equipment rental, and a wide range of dining facilities.
The landmark of the resort is its long chairlift. When it was built, it was one of the most modern lifts in Central and Eastern Europe. The route length is 1,300 meters, with a vertical difference of 261 meters between the lower and upper stations. The average slope gradient is 20%. The comfortable six-seater chairlift with wind protection can transport up to 3,000 people per hour.
The upper station is located at over 1,100 meters above sea level, already within the Kościelisko area. From here you can admire an impressive panorama of the Tatra Mountains. This makes the lift popular not only among skiers and snowboarders, but also among tourists. The attraction is available all year round. Riding downhill is especially recommended, as the Tatra peaks remain in view the entire time. Outside the winter season, the ski slope is often used by cycling enthusiasts, especially those practicing downhill mountain biking.
Szymoszkowa Meadow is also used as a venue for running events. During the summer season, the outdoor swimming pool is very popular. It is the only open recreational pool within a 40-kilometer radius of Zakopane. The pool is supplied by the Szymoszkowa GT-1 geothermal borehole, which is 1,700 meters deep and has a capacity of 80,000 liters per hour. The water temperature reaches 28°C and is classified as mineral water. Swimming pool opening hours in the summer season are from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Ticket prices are affordable, with entry tickets available from as low as 13 PLN.
An inseparable part of the Szymoszkowa Meadow landscape for decades has been the Kasprowy Hotel — one of the most famous accommodation facilities in southern Poland. This is also where the opening scene of the popular Polish comedy “Controlled Conversations” by Sylwester Chęciński was filmed.
Regardless of lifestyle or preferred leisure activities, Szymoszkowa Meadow in Zakopane offers something enjoyable for everyone.
